Santa Ana, CA – Today, Congressman Dave Min announced his endorsement of David Penaloza for State Assembly District 68. Congressman Min joins a growing coalition of supporters that includes Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas, outgoing Assemblymember Avelino Valencia, and Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua.

Congressman Min released the following statement regarding his endorsement:

“Orange County families will have a fighter in their corner with David Penaloza in the State Assembly, and I am excited to share my endorsement of his campaign. David is smart, responsive, and operational. There has never been a more important time to elect leaders who not only talk about their vision for moving California forward, but really have the experience and track record needed to get it done.”

Dave Min has served as the US Representative from the 47th Congressional District since 2025. Prior to his election to Congress, Min represented the 37th State Senate District in the California State Senate from 2020 to 2024. Before serving in elected office, Min was an assistant law professor at the University of California, Irvine.

David Penaloza is a lifelong Orange County resident, City Councilmember, businessman, husband, father, and community leader.

David was elected to the Santa Ana City Council in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. In his time on the Council, David has helped build over 2,000 units of new housing, reduce 911 response times, hire more police officers, open four new parks, repair streets, and create local jobs.

Professionally, David is a businessman who has worked for the same Orange County company for the last 16 years. In addition to his City Council service, David is currently the Vice President for the League of California Cities-Orange County Division and serves as the Chair for the Transportation Corridor Agencies. He also previously served as the large city representative for the Orange County Housing Finance Trust, a Joint Powers Authority dedicated to making resources available to address the homelessness and affordability crisis. David earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles.

David and his wife, former Garden Grove Councilwoman Kim Nguyen-Penaloza, live in Orange County with their 2 kids, Penelope and Lucas, and dogs, Ein and Jax.
