After Taking Unfair Labor Practice Strike Vote, Stater Bros. Workers Rally for Fair Treatment from Company During Contract Negotiations

Long Beach, CA – On Friday, August 1, Stater Bros. workers will be joined by other grocery store workers from Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons, Pavilions and Gelson’s, and community supporters to fight for a fair contract from Stater Bros. that provides living wages, affordable healthcare benefits, a reliable pension and more staffing and better working conditions for a better customer experience.
The rally follows two days of negotiations on July 30 and 31 and union members at Stater Bros. overwhelmingly voting to authorize a first-ever Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) strike to protest Stater Bros.’ labor violations during negotiations. Stater Bros. workers are fed up with their employer’s union-busting tactics that undermine workers and silence their voices.
Grocery workers at Stater Bros. are disrespected, overworked, and undervalued by their company and are tired of asking the company to invest in their workers and customers, only to see no results. Since March, workers have pushed Stater Bros. for real solutions to short staffing, unsafe conditions, and unfair wages, but all they’ve received in return is disrespect of their rights.
