| MAGA extremists control the Huntington Beach City Council – and instead of improving our community, they’re spending their time attacking our libraries.
They’ve been running unchecked, trying to remake our community as they force their conservative agenda onto us. But now, we have a chance to fight back.
Two crucial ballot initiatives are coming up in June’s special election, and we’re proud to endorse voting “YES” on both:
✅ The first would abolish the dangerous library book review board, which censors children’s books, restricts access to library materials, and blocks new book purchases based on a political agenda.
✅ The second would stop the City Council from privatizing our public library system by requiring both council and voter approval before allowing private companies to take over our libraries.
This isn’t just about libraries – it’s about standing up for public services that our community relies on. It’s about protecting the First Amendment, free speech, and freedom of expression. It’s about protecting marginalized communities and their right to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
There’s not much attention being paid to this race – and that’s exactly what this MAGA City Council wants. They’re banking on low turnout in an off-year. We can’t let that happen.
Tuesday’s shocking upset of big-money backed MAGA extremism in Irvine is a sign that momentum is on our side, but only if we act now.

why are we even here????? we lost HB in 2022 when the DPOC chair was too busy using limited resources to get her son elected in the town next door – Stanton. So we lost HB for a decade thanks to Ada’s shitty leadership.
You lost HB because people were tired of the progressive bullshit .. people no longer wanted to watch Dan Kalmick make an ass out himself and try to be the smartest man in the room, listen to Natalie Moser drone on , enjoying the sound of her own voice while virtue signaling at every opportunity, and looking at DEI appointee Ronda Bolton scowl and offer opposition to anything that was rooted in common sense while carrying the water for all the pointy head Gadflies and hangers on from the left.
The only reason the left has a majority was because meathead Tito was elected and didn’t know his ass from a hole in the ground and decided to tap out when confronted and realized he was not universally loved. You are correct in assuming that HB is lost, probably forever, to conservatives.

Don’t EVER forget, Huntington Beach created perhaps the WORST Democrats in Orange politics: Greg Diamond and Vern Nelson. TWO entitled kids with Advanced degrees, living in ghettos, blogging, battling addiction, and poverty.
No wonder HB swung right, as I said in my first manifesto:

Florice knows this, HB has a rich bench of people who are not 60 year old losers.
Just don’t run Kalmick , Moser or Bolton again. They are loathed. And absolutely forget about Tarvin. People have figured out what she’s all about. She will be stuck in school board hell forever.
