Kim Goes to Court Today; Insists She’s a Resident of Irvine’s District 5

Tammy Kim’s Thanksgiving at her District 3 Home

Former Irvine Council member Tammy Kim has a 2PM Thursday Court appearance to make her case that’s she’s a legal resident of Irvine’s District 5.  Her legal filing can be read here: TammyKim1.do.  For easy reference, here is the PI report.  Tammy Kim PI report

Kim’s defense is:

  • She’s a legal resident of District 5 and has a new driver’s license and lease agreements to prove her change of address.
  • The witnesses interviewed by the Private Investigator are unreliable or offered hearsay; their surveillance did not take into account her attendance at community events and her visits to her District 3 condo were to visit her 22-year-old son who still lives there (note: Kim said she moved out of concerns for her safety but her son’s safety is a different situation)
  • Her frequent appearances at her District 3 address are because that’s where her son lives and she visits him often.
  • The special election should be city-wide because the vacant city council seat as an at-large seat and not a district seat, therefore all she needs to be is a city resident.  Irvine is a charter city and the city council passed legislation for how they would handle replacing Agran’s city council seat if he were elected Mayor when the city moved to district elections.  Kim is trying to cover every base throwing out every possibility to see what might stick.
  • Not in the filing but from Kim’s comments at last night’s Democrats of Greater Irvine meeting when she came on a Zoom call, Kim announced her court appearance and said — words to the effect my sources say — “everyone will be shocked at the publicly traded company is funding the lawsuit against her, involving her residency for the district 5 race.” She then said she will hold campaign events soon.  The publicly-traded company Kim refers to is believed to be LiveNation but there’s absolutely no evidence that this is the case.  It’s hard to believe that a multi-billion dollar entertainment company would spend any money to determine a city council seat.

Since Kim is making what apears to be an unfounded accusation on a publicly-traded company funding her eligibility lawsuit, sources want to know who’s funding Kim’s defense.  Could it be the Orange County Professional Firefighters Association, which represents firefighters of the OC Fire Authority, which gave Kim $300,000 to fight a recall that never qualified for the ballot?  Is OCPA making an investment in Kim to get her back on the OCPA board in hopes of reversing Irvine’s decision to leave that body?  Is she getting funding from her only City Council supporter Kathleen Treseder who has significant funding from her #MeToo settlement with UC-Irvine?

The hearing starts at 2PM; make popcorn.

  1. Where is the courtroom? Can the public attend? Can we watch it live? Can it still be nominated for the best faux drama award??

  2. Even if Tammy Kim wins she still loses. Who would vote for a carpetbagger? It could be the workers union funding her, but why would anyone fund her lawsuit? If for some reason she stays on the ballot, she still has to face the wrath of Todd Spitzer. And if convicted, which she will be for sure on the first address change, she could be looking at 3 years in state prison. If she is convicted on the second address change, before the election and after the ballots are printed, she will have to pay restitution of about a half million dollars to have the ballots re-printed to remove her name. See the case of Roman Reyna, Santa Ana, 2018.

    • Dee Fox is so right! Tammy Kim supports war criminals with her Pro Genocide stance. She also turns out to be a criminal in life as well. She should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I hope you write to the DA and get her to either pay for her many crimes or go to jail. We need to keep our elections honest. Thank you Dan for keeping us updated.

      • The real criminals are the cowardly Palestinians that murdered thousands in cold blood and took hostages, then hunkered down in populated areas- hospitals schools…
Nobody wants the Palestinians.. Egypt, Jordan… essentially because they are bunch of murderous assholes that are still pissed about the Jews issuing a beatdown when they fought to seize the land they are on. Muslim armies tried multiple times to take it back and did a failed miserably. I suppose I would be humiliated and angry if i was a Muslim male that couldn’t take back my land from the Israelis …

    • well, she moved to represent voters she once did. I don’t have an issue with that. My issue is the lying about the first District 5 address. I also don’t believe she was ever at risk for her positions on Israel/Gaza because if she was, wouldn’t she take steps to protect her son?

  3. There was absolutely no mention of any public company during the hearing. Not sure what that would have to do with anything anyway.

    • There’s no way a company like LiveNation is going to “invest” money in a lawsuit to stop a candidate from running for office. This is complete fiction on Tammy’s part and she’s really selling the lie.

I actually think her effort to get a new address and a new license will pay off for her and she may well be on the ballot; but she — and her lawyers — are unable to unable to explain the first District 5 address which she voted from.
