The Democratic Party of Orange County announces its leadership team to lead the Party through the 2026 Midterm election cycle. The Central Committee, the Party’s governing body, elected former Party Treasurer Florice Hoffman as the incoming Party chair. Hoffman is a prominent workers’ rights attorney and activist who has held leadership positions in the California Democratic Party. She replaces former Chair Ada Briceño, who will remain an active Central Committee member as a Democratic National Committee (DNC) member. See Bio here.

On Monday night, Democrats elected or re-elected all party officers by acclamation – an oral vote used instead of a formal ballot usually held when candidates run without opposition, as was the case here.

Executive Vice Chair Lauren Johnson-Norris (new position)

Secretary Lisa Fenning

Treasurer LuisAndres Perez

District 1 Vice Chair Izeah Chairez

District 2 Vice Chair Gloria Alvarado

District 3 Vice Chair Eugene Fields

District 4 Vice Chair Manny Chavez

District 5 Vice Chair Libby Frolichman

District 6 Vice Chair Denise Penn

Newly elected Chair Florice Hoffman issued the following statement:

“As Chair of the Democratic Party of Orange County, I am dedicated to electing Democrats to local and county offices who will champion the needs of our diverse communities. I am grateful for the accomplishments and leadership of Chair Briceño as a leader in the labor movement and as the first immigrant to lead our Party. She was instrumental in turning Orange County blue, including expanding the number of elected Democrats throughout the county, the successful defense of Congressional District 47, and flipping CD 45.”

You can read former Chair Briceño’s final message to Democrats here.

We also want to thank all the former officers, executive committee members, and Central Committee members for their unwavering commitment to Democratic values in Orange County and welcome our newly elected Central Committee members and officers.

The election was held via Zoom and in person at the January 13, 2025 meeting of the Central Committee at the Postal Union Workers Hall in Garden Grove.

  1. I always thought Ms. Hoffman was a level headed reasonable woman.

On the other hand, your blog neighbor feels differently:

    Vern wrote:

Florice voted against our charter (as did Ada.)
We were never given a reason, OR the requisite 60 days notice that our charter would be voted on.
Florice was one of the loudest voices against a DPOC Gaza ceasefire resolution last year.
The Anaheim Dems Club passed a Gaza ceasefire resolution last year.
DPOC will not confirm, deny or admit that had anything to do with us losing our charter, and
Hey – I thought me and Florice were friends decades ago, what happened?

I guess the good news is, the only person Florice must think is a bigger A-HOLE than Vern, is……………Greg Diamond!

  2. Congrats to Florice! Her tireless advocacy for women’s reproductive rights, her courageous support for LGBTQ+ equality during the Prop 8 nonsense, and her commitment to comprehensive sex ed makes her right for this job especially at this time. Wishing her and the entire leadership team success!!

So apparently her entire focus is on what people do with their genitals.
A winning strategy for the DEMS… LOL

Um… That’s why you guys got tossed out on your ass in the last election cycle.
You may want to focus on issues that matter to the majority of the constituents instead of pandering to people whose entire worldview and perception is shaped by what happens between their legs.

    • Apparently you don’t know that joining the fight against Prop 8 as well as the fight against restricting women’s reproductive freedoms is a response to the Republican’s focus on what people do with their genitals. Read a book.

      • “Women’s reproductive freedoms” is lib doublespeak for “ let me commit infanticide and murder my child in the womb without any judgement from you” .. sorry. I’m entitled to consider you a disgusting POS. and not accept your “ choice” as normal and remain indifferent. libs love to change words to lessen the reality of things. Homeless? No .. unhoused.. illegal immigrant? No .. “undocumented migrant” Homosexual? No.. “ gay”..

You promote a culture of hedonism and death.
