Supporters rally at Irvine City Hall to beat the heat, calling for action on climate

Environmentalists, councilmembers offer remarks and hold signs calling on California state leaders to match action from Washington, DC to slow down climate change and chart California on a bold path towards 100% clean energy

WHAT:

The Irvine community is calling on California to take strong action to beat the heat by addressing climate change. Coming to City Hall with signs, community members and advocates are aiming to keep California as a national leader and take advantage of momentum as the United States Congress passes a historic climate law. Attendees will show support for Gov. Gavin Newsom’s plan for strong climate action calling for state lawmakers to accelerate our state’s advance toward 100% clean energy, amongst other emission-reducing initiatives. This comes off the heels of Irvine’s commitment to 100% renewable energy earlier this year. Attendees will enjoy popsicles to beat the heat and support strong climate action.
