The Elephants in the Room

I had a lot of pressure on me to write something in advance of Monday;s DPOC meeting. The aftermath is far more interesting.

The party voted to support the recall effort against Irvine mayor Christina Shea and Council member Mike Carroll on the recommendation of DGI member Kev Abazajian.   The problem is, all the reasons he cites were ever worse by Irvine council woman Melissa Fox.  Kev has well-done Excel files showing FivePoint influence on Shea and on Carroll’s wife, Betty — an Irvine school board member.  But if he ran the same spreadsheet for Fox –and he won’t because he is her new best friend- – it would be even worse,.  When Fox returns funds giving to her by Five Point and Starpointe Ventures — Five Point consultants — I might buy it.  But Fox’s record is no different than Shea’s.

So no.

At the meeting. I half expected DPOC chair Ada Briceno to address published reports that document her racism against Caucasians.   The Democratic Party is the party of second chances which I can speak of personally.  But for some, it’s the party of fourth, fifth and sixth chances (Letourneau, Fox, et al).  But there are a number of older and white Central Committee members appalled by these stories.  After she was elected in January, I reached out to Ada to discuss the blog and that meeting has never been achieved.  Is it because I’m white she won’t meet to chat about the blog?  Should I believe this is true absent communication to the contrary?

The story of Ava’s early leadership for a union is troublesome.  I would have hoped she addressed it at the DPOC meeting. She did not. She’s a candidate for DNC.  At this point, with no response, my vote for her as DNC is a “No.”  She can change this, but she fails to recognize that the Democratic Party is more than union members.  But she never has.

Business Democrats are only here to give $ and not be acknowledged for ideas.  My checkbook is now closed.
