Former Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez has announced a new bid for the Orange County Board of Supervisors Third District, a seat she narrowly lost in a special election with a very short campaign season and very low voter turnout.
Don Wagner’s win just shows Republicans are better at turning out for special elections. But come 2020, with a presidential race and hotly contested seats in Congress, voter turnout won’t be a problem for Sanchez as it will be for Wagner. Sanchez is still a much better candidate but special elections remain an Achilles Heel for OC Democrats.
Time to change this. Sanchez has an experienced team and will be able to do a better job of raising funds needed to run an effective campaign.

If I had a dollar for every decent blog post I’ve submitted, I’d have at least $10 by now and would be able to purchase a Republican member of Congress’ soul (they’re on clearance sale these days).
