Irvine Mayor Pro Tem Christina Shea has been on a tear lately on NextDoor.com ranting about the failure of Measure B where nearly 11,000 more Irvine voters were against it rather than for it killing the Veteran’s Cemetery at the freeway site instead deciding on the original site at ARDA. If she can’t reward her developer/partner/campaign contributor, she wants to take her ball and go home.
Here’s what she had to say:
Where to begin?
The Voice of OC estimated the No on B campaign spent about $370,000 — with much of the money from loans which will need to be paid back. The Voice of OC also estimates the Yes on B campaign spent $775,000 — so the No on B people were outspent 2 to 1.
Shea talks about lies. She must not have read any of the “Yes on B” materials or believed that the awful “Real Vets support Measure B” signs that had an negative impact on voters in Irvine — especially Veterans who live in Irvine. Shea addressed the $80 million it will take to make the ARDA site ready for a cemetery — forgetting she voted to turn away $30 million from the state, $10 million from the federal government and $38 million from Irvine all to enable the land swap that would have significantly benefit FivePoint on the taxpayers dime.
A reminder, that if the land swap hadn’t been approved, construction would have begun on ARDA 10 months ago. The land swap delayed the first shovelful of dirt from being dug.
So Shea won’t vote for a Veteran’s Cemetery. Sources say Wagner won’t vote for it either. This leaves Melissa Fox as the swing vote — again. Her blog posts seem to suggest Irvine voters were confused about Measure B, along with an online poll to support her contention. There’s also some historical revision on Fox’s interpretation of Measure B, if you ask me. The problem with the poll is that anyone can vote for the assigned answers — not just Irvine residents so whatever the results are, it’s crap. I’m hoping Fox keeps her promise to voters to keep a cemetery at the Great Park and work to undo the legislative actions that moved the Cemetery from ARDA to the freeway site and move everything back.
More than 19,000 voters signed a petition to get Measure B on the ballot; significantly more voted to defeat the land swap. The vast majority of these people are Democrats and NPP voters. November’s city council races now loom large and there are three Democrats on the ballot for city council. Who will these Irvine voters support with their votes?
The council needs to keep it’s promise to build the cemetery; Irvine voters told the council where they want it. Make it happen.

It’s truly appalling that Shea simply won’t listen to the voters and the “about face” from Fox (ref: https://melissafoxblog.com/2014/09/17/irvine-needs-a-permanent-veterans-advisory-committee-comprised-solely-of-veterans/) is shocking. I hope that if Shea and Fox vote against Lalloway’s motion on 10th July that they are both served with recall papers on the spot! Happy day for Irvine voters.
Oh, and Shea tweeted today that Lalloway “cancelled his agenda item”. Talk about fake news. The item was merely postponed. She’s doing everything she can to make sure the cemetery doesn’t happen.

I think that it’s high time we not only debunked/refute much of what that City & 3 Council members are alleging, but provide via archives some of the reality, the behind the scenes scenarios many veterans have struggled with: Irvine is hiding behind our uniforms as a shield and endgame development justification, piling us all into one heap (hers) or basket for political gain is only one bone I’d have to pick with Ms. Shea……There’s never a level playing field when they have the bully pulpit, we’re reduced to being snipers.
Plus I think that myself & my NGO (CLEAN WATER NOW) are in a unique position regarding both our historical involvement going back 15 years but also several fellow Marines I recruited who served there (their names are in the column comments section).
We Marines served there plus all of us have written extensively (online feature length columns, several bookstore, documentary films, etc), unmasking not just the degree & depth of base wide contamination but the political struggle pollution in the background.

I’ve had several comments rejected by the Voice of OC “ghost in the machine” because of such hot links and they have graciously worked with me on a case-by–case basis.

I tried to direct readers to http://www.salem-news.com, our main outlet/clearinghouse at our peak production. This was a very highly trafficked online outlet, the popularity perhaps in part because no one was covering it as intensely, as forcefully as we were……. and I personally took on the political failures and fiscal fiasco surrounding Irvine & the Great Park. Interested parties can go there, I think the archives are still available.
We’re embarrassed at our political naiveté, that Christina Shea duped us 10 years ago, but we wanted the rehab to be outed for what it was, still is: A flaccid, under-performed, corner-cutting remediation.
We provided a case via post-service cancer clusters of civilians and servicemen/women (similar to USMC Camp LeJeune in North Carolina) that was eye-popping, mind bending regarding the known health hazards while the base was operating.
A lot of details, minutiae, but we were outraged Marines, performing our due diligence, trying to be as vigilant as civilians as we were when Marines.
We also helped the family of deceased Colonel Sabow (at one point Base Commander) in their effort to reveal that he didn’t die by his own hand but nefariously by those of others. Google Robert (Bob) O’Dowd and or Tim King, their scandalous investigation results seem to support that Sabow was whistleblowing regarding the movement of not only nuclear weapons but CIA cocaine through the base. Rumors that they researched and raise serious questions about how that base was used back when.
I read your blog at least once/week, I seldom comment here, but you definitely should be congratulated for fulfilling, for honoring your mission statement.

Okay, let’s recap on the facts:
Greg Diamond implies George Olivo never attempted to hurt me but I have a long term WVO against Olivo because the judge found it was assault.
Greg Diamond implies the appeal in the OCDA will be dismissed, but only his portion was dismissed. He never even filed a motion to dismiss and the record is due in about a month. Laches?
My 2014 defamation case is going back to court post-appeal.
My license was not suspended when Greg Diamond published that it was and now the California Supreme Court has taken up the issue. Even though the truth was presented to them, Greg Diamond and Vern Nelson never retracted or removed their false statements.
Now, Greg Diamond implies that the RICO/Civil Rights action is something to laugh at when it is a placeholder? His track record of getting it right, isn’t that good is it?
I’m told that Lenore’s Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing is being converted by the court into a Chapter 7, which if true will likely solve certain problems on its own. I haven’t checked the record myself. I’m sure Dan can.
As there is litigation pending, I’m not going to respond to most of what Lenore says here, except as follows:
(1) I have *no idea* whether George Olivo has ever assaulted Lenore, nor whether (if he did so) the facts of the interaction were as she has stated. He and I literally never discussed his confronting her personally (or anything near to it) before that date and I don’t recall our ever discussing the topic afterwards. Others claiming knowledge of it have offered stories discrepant from Lenore’s, such as (if memory serves) his slamming a plaque down on a table; I have no personal knowledge of that either.
I do recall his complaining in a non-privileged setting that an attorney who seemed to match the description of Lenore (I don’t recall whether he named her) was either formally hiring or getting “bartered” work assistance from people including him, and that that attorney was ripping people off, including violating wage-and-hour laws. I don’t know whether that was true, nor have I ever claimed to know for certain.
I continue to believe that Lenore’s OCDA appeal will be dismissed as moot — but if the court wants to order that she be placed onto the 2018 primary ballot at this point, that’s OK with me. (Good luck with it! Try some TV ads.)
As for what I’ve supposedly “implied” to defame her — well, that will be addressed in time, probably without too many surprising for people with a better grasp than Lenore has of defamation law.
Lenore, are you still in the office whose number is indicated on your summons and complaint? I thought I recalled your saying that you had moved out because you couldn’t afford the rent, but that seems to be where you want to be served. Is the summons+complaint correct, or no?
Also, Lenore: I know that at least one co-Defendant was NOT served process by the Tuesday deadline. Tell me, were ANY of my putative co-Defendants served? Without knowing this, I have a feeling that I might be the sole defendant being haled into court to answer accusations of participating in a broad RICO conspiracy, which would certainly be novel.
In reply to “Decapitator” — no, I’m not laughing at the complaint, despite finding it meritless. Responding to it will be time-consuming and possibly expensive. If I had to describe my reaction to it in one word, it would have to be: “vexed.” Quite vexed.
I don’t exactly trust your “recollections.” I do think your stroke has affected your memory. Confusing Rep. Crowley with “Coakley” is a good example — you mean the Massachusetts AG or the NC congressional candidate? Things you’ve imagined are factual in your mind. I hope you can find a smart lawyer to argue your side.
