Betty Yee Backs Mike Levin for Congress in CD-49

VISTA, CA – Betty Yee, California’s State Controller and Chief Fiscal Officer, today endorsed attorney and clean energy advocate Mike Levin for United States Congress in District 49.

Democrat Levin is running to replace Republican Darrell Issa in this northern San Diego / southern Orange County Congressional district.

“Mike Levin is smart, dedicated, progressive, and effective,” stated Controller Yee.  “He is making a difference building a sustainable energy future for the 21st century economy in our Golden State.  Mike Levin will be an outstanding Representative, and I am proud to support him.”

Betty Yee is one of California’s most well-regarded elected leaders.   Yee has over 30 years of distinguished public service mostly in the fields of state and local finance and tax policy.  Before her election as State Controller in 2014, Yee served two terms as a member Board of Equalization and as Chief Deputy Budget Director for Governor Gray Davis.

“I am thrilled to have the trust and support of Controller Betty Yee.  Betty Yee is one of my models for thoughtful and principled leadership,” responded Levin.  “Betty Yee is effective because she always nails her facts and is guided by an unwavering commitment to social justice.”

Betty Yee joins a growing list of prominent early endorsers for Mike Levin, including Congressmember Adam Schiff, the National Organization for Women (NOW), and many local elected leaders from across the 49th District.

The 49th, represented by Republican Darrell Issa, is recognized as one of the most competitive Congressional districts in the nation.

  1. This is a most inyeresting endorsement.

It exemplifies the schisims in the modern day party.

It’s no secret Betty is revered by the so called “Berniecrats”. She’s their girl. Cool.
But she breaks ranks and makes a responsible respectful decision to support Mike over so called “progressive” candidate Applegate.

The reality is for YEARS there have been internal squabblws in BOTH parties over candidates and endorsements. This is a great example of someone making a choice.

Of late we have watched locally, family members pit themselves against each other. We have watched LONGTIME colleagues clash and call each other names.

Blame it on Facebook. Blame it on Hard Headed bloggers and attention desperate souls.

But for Christs sake lets come together.
