Anaheim Council member Jordan Brandman and Garden Grove mayor Bao Nguyen may soon join former Senator Lou Correa in the Democratic race for CD-46, otherwise know as Lorreta Sanchez’s seat. Sanchez, seeking the nod for US Senator, will likely not endorse in the race and its going to set up an interesting three way between Correa, considered barely a Democrat by many, Brandman who has strong Democratic credentials by aligning himself against Teabagger Anaheim mayor Tom Tait, and Bao Nguyem, the mayor of Garden Grove for all of 8 months who finally came out of the closet as a gay Democratic elected official.
It’s an interesting dynamic. Correa will count on the Latino vote. Nguyen will court the strong Vietnamese-American vote in the portion of the district that resides in Garden Grove and Little Saigon, while Brandan will likely own the high primary turnout voters in Orange and Anaheim.
We’re hearing Brandman is close to actually announcing and that Nguyen will likely announce soon even though he hasn’t declared.
On the Republican side, Irvine Council member Lynn Schott, a born-again Tea Party republican council member from Irvine may be the token Republican in the race, running as a carpetbagger while having to explain to low income Asian and Latino voters why she voted against a Living Wage ordinance in Irvine and why that vote was good for them. She has a campaign committee formed but it hasn’t raised a dollar.

After inserting himself (incredibly) in the middle of Bao’s non announcement, Greg Diamond has on the defensive against his imaginary “anonymous attackers” with a vengence usually reserved for his fellow DPOC Comittee members.

Parts of Garden Grove are and you don’t have to live in the district to run for Congress.
At this point I would prefer Loretta stayed. My second choice is the Sanchez from Pomona, followed by Correa, Brandman and Bao last, mostly based on professional experience of all (except for Sanchez from Pomona, who I would love to see the reaction of all the talking heads if he won!).
Interesting that in some races it seems the goal for some candidates is to make it to the “Top 2” – & not to necessarily win the election – just sayin’ ….
