Voice of OC is unveiling a new content distribution partnership with The Orange County Register, the county’s most far-reaching news organization. “Good government is directly fueled by vigorous public affairs news coverage,” said Norberto Santana Jr., editor-in-chief of the nonprofit newsroom. “Our agreement with the Orange County Register greatly expands our reach and takes our mission to a new level.”

As of 4 pm Friday, contract talks between the County of Orange and the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs have reached an impasse. Deputies had until then to accept the county’s last, best and final offer, on a new contract after almost two years of talks. THeir answer was no thanks
A federal appeals court ruled Thursday that an Anaheim man’s First Amendment rights were not violated when his speech drew strong reactions at Orange County Board of Supervisors meetings. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals also upheld a board rule barring “personal, impertinent, slanderous or profane remarks” at public meetings. But the court made its ruling “unpublished,” meaning it does not set precedent for future cases.

This week, the Orange County Vietnamese community come out to protest a proposal by Council member Larry Agran to add a city from Vietnam as a Friendship City. Agran withdrew the proposal prior to the council meeting after receiving what I’m sure were a number of “are you crazy” phone calls.
