End of Session in the California Legislature was not quite long enough for the resolution to the $48 million in stolen VLF funding to be restored. While the Orange County GOP delegation was quick to demand the funds be restored, they refused to lift a finger to make it happen.

The Orange County Register reports this morning that CalPERS, the big state pension fund, has effectively slammed the door on cities thinking of getting out of the guaranteed pension business.

The Orange County Board of Supervisors is the target of a lawsuit by the ACLU over their public comment policies. The suit was filed on behalf of William Denis Fitzgerald, an Anaheim resident, who has spoken before the Board on numerous occasions.

On Tuesday night the City of Costa Mesa approved a reorganization of their organizational structure that added hundreds of thousands of dollars in annual costs for two PR management positions that are currently held by high priced consultants and adding new positions including two Executive Secretary’s to serve the whims of the Council members.

On Tuesday night, hundreds of Santa Ana residents showed up to the City Council meeting to express their feelings on the conduct of Mayor Pro Tem Claudia Alvarez. She was allowed to choose her own punishment for breaking the Code of Ethics and Conduct by breaking ethical standards to do so.

I am tempted to call the Costa City Council meeting this evening an on going soap opera, but that would be minimizing the horror of the destruction of our city by council members Jim Righeimer, Steve Mensinger and Gary Monahan. The gall of these men knows no bounds.
