County of Orange Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley posted in a Facebook update Monday evening that the Los Alamitos City Council recount has been cancelled. From his FB Page: A few moments ago I received notification from candidate Dean Zarkos to end the recount process.

Norberto Santana, Jr. reported on the Voice of OC Monday evening the news that Supervisor John Moorlach’s former chief of staff Mario Mainero is back in Orange County’s employ. Mainero, now a professor at Chapman University Law School, will advise County CEO Tom Mauk as the county prepares for it’s upcoming appeal of a 2009 decision by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to throw out the case.

The purpose for this gathering is to be present at the Mayor’s inauguration, and to express concern about the Mayor’s effort to make $500,000 for himself from the sale of state property. The revelation was made public last week in 2 different newspaper articles. In one article the Mayor stated he had earned the finder’s fee for simply introducing people. The Mayor will also be deposed by attorneys opposing the sale, early this week, to determine his role in the transaction.
