SANTA ANA, CA – Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (CA-47), Vice Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, today issued the following statement regarding news that U.S. security officials have intercepted two packages of Yemeni origin with explosive devices inside. According to the New York Times, the intended destinations of the packages were two places of Jewish worship in Chicago:
“As Vice Chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, I want to commend local and federal law enforcement officials and airport cargo screeners for their quick action in response to this credible terrorist threat against the United States. The relevant authorities continue to work together to investigate the origins of these explosive devices. As the President stated earlier, today’s events in Newark and Philadelphia serve as a reminder that we must always be vigilant against potential acts of terrorism.â€
“I also want to underscore the important work Congress is doing to screen cargo shipments that may constitute threats against our security. In September, I co-introduced the Air Cargo Security Act of 2010, a bipartisan bill that would establish federal air cargo screening centers for packages carried by foreign and domestic air carriers. Now more than ever, the U.S. needs a coordinated cargo security program for planes and trucks entering our country. I hope the events of the last twenty-four hours will result in the Transportation Security Administration taking concrete action to develop one.â€

I second your statement, Loretta Sanchez, is no leader but a PUPPET for the special interest groups. Loretta Sanchez is a sell out and she lacks all the qualities of true leadership. She has no integrity, no values. No matter how hard Liberal OC tries to praise her (only because she pays for the advertisements/articles) on their website, US D47 voters are NOT voting for her!
