Why Can’t we learn from our Armed Forces?

I had the good fortune to spend this past week-end at Camp Pendelton. Camp Pendelton, home of the 1st Marines, is a wonderful institution that is a City onto itself. It has a lot of history to it as it seeks to respect that history while having an eye on the future. This hit me as I checked out the Museum on the base featuring some of the Tanks and other vehicles going as far back as World War II.

Obama Weekly Address: No Corporate Takeover of our Democracy

In this week’s address, the President urged Republican leaders in Congress to end their obstruction of a bipartisan bill that will reduce the influence wielded by corporations and foreign entities. The President vowed to continue the fight for reform and transparency, and said elected officials who benefit from corporate or foreign-funded ads should either defend the ads or join the bipartisan effort to stop them.

Correa’s Bill on Military Education Benefits Awaits Governor’s Signature

SACRAMENTO, CA—Today, the California State Senate unanimously voted on the passage out of the Legislature of Bill 1075 (SB 1075), authored by Senator Lou Correa(Orange County). This legislative measure requires academic institutions to reasonably accommodate and assist students who are called to active military duty so they can meet any and all coursework requirements missed due to military service.
