U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter on Tuesday was defeated in a Democratic primary in his bid for a sixth term after taking the risky step of switching from the GOP. Voters picked U.S. Rep. Joe Sestak as the party’s nominee and rejected the 80-year-old Specter in his first Democratic campaign.

Why Doesn’t Steven Choi Tout His Military Experience?

We paid a visit to Choi’s website and did email the Councilman’s fundraiser asking about his service in the South Korean military. There’s no mention of Choi’s military background on his website. Frankly, I find it odd for a Republican not to mention any military service. Look at Chuck DeVore’s mulitple references to his own miliary experience. Dana Roharbacher evaded the draft but is as hawkish as can be. Vice President Cheney is famous for having other priorities during Vietnam.

Hugh Nguyen: Collecting Full County Pension & Medical To Run His Sandwich Shop

To great fanfare in his department, Hugh Nguyen graciously volunteered to take an additional 24 hours off each pay period through the end of the fiscal year. He currently works 24 hours per week as a manager collecting the full value of his pension and medical benefits as though he were working full time. For the record, Nguyen has arranged to work Tuesdays through Thursdays every week.
