Thank God it isn’t over!

I’m so happy to see that neither Cassie DeYoung or Pat Bates won a majority in the race for the 5th County Supervisor Seat. Now, there will be a runoff, and we can watch these two eat each other alive for another 5 months.

Ultimately it’s going to be Pat Bates that wins the seat. Let’s face it, Cassie DeYoung spent $2.8 million in the primary race, and she got 37% of the vote. Wait, wait, wait. I need to repeat that sentence and bask in the incredible pity I have for this failure: She spent $2.8 million, most of which came from her own high-end handbag, and she only received 37% of the vote.

Statistically speaking, Pat Bates’ $300,000 was a lot of money to be spent on a Supervisor race, but nobody is paying attention to that because DeYoung spent $2.8 million. And didn’t win.. $2.8 million. Didn’t win.

According to Cassie’s website, she is running for the Supervisor’s seat because she wants to protect the quality of life we have here in OC.

It is critical to the maintenance of our Quality of Life that we create a comprehensive transportation strategy for improving the traffic mess that affects all of Orange County.

If DeYoung was really interested in creating a comprehensive transportation strategy for improving the traffic mess that affects all of OC, she would have spent $2.8 million on trying to improve the OCTA, not on her disastrous campaign.

I’m curious how much money both of these ladies will be spending before November, and how many times they’ll sue one another this time.
