Many Santa Ana residents were asking “Where’s the Mayor?†on Monday during the demonstrations that were happening in downtown.
Mayor Miguel Pulido, an immigrant from Mexico, refused to be interviewed, but he released a press statement:
“Throughout the day, I was in constant communication with our city manager and with our police chief to ensure that our priority was the safety of the demonstrators as well as all of our residents.
“At the Santa Ana City Council meeting later that evening, I thanked the demonstrators for their peaceful protest and for their cooperation with the city.”
Pulido has been on the Santa Ana City Council since 1986, and he is currently sitting in his sixth term as the Mayor. Mayor Pulido has gotten a little too comfortable in that cushy mayor’s chair, and he’s forgotten who his constituents are.
November isn’t too far away, Mr. Pulido. November will be here before you know it.
