EDUCATION LEADERS ENDORSE DIEDRE NGUYEN FOR OC ASSEMBLY SEAT

GARDEN GROVE, CA—Cancer scientist and Garden Grove City Councilmember Diedre Thu-Ha Nguyen reports several major endorsements from local and statewide education leaders in her race for State Assembly. They include the California Teachers Association, California Federation of Teachers, Faculty Association of California Community Colleges, California School Employees Association, and several local elected school officials.

“I am so proud to have support from our teachers, elected school board members, and community college faculty,” said Diedre. “These community leaders are grappling with frontline COVID issues and how to best keep students, teachers, administrators, and other staff safe, as well as their families.

“As a scientist working at a testing lab for coronavirus and a city councilmember using financial assistance to help keep small businesses open, provide protective gear for first responders, and prevent people from losing their housing, I know this fight is tough and going to get tougher.

“To have so many education leaders on board, who know what a tough fight this is, makes me feel like we can take on any challenge for our community, for our state,” Diedre continued.

The local officials endorsing DIedre include Diana Carey, Huntington Beach Union High School District Board of Trustees Member, Jamison Power, Westminster School District Board of Trustees Member, Teri Rocco, Garden Grove School District Vice President, Lorraine Prinsky, Coast Colleges Board of Trustees Vice President, Jim Moreno, Coast Colleges Board of Trustees Member, and Gina Clayton-Tarvin, Ocean View School District Board of Trustees President.

Ms. Nguyen was first elected to serve on the Garden Grove City Council in 2016 and re-elected in 2018.

Assembly District 72 is located in north central Orange County and includes the cities of Seal Beach, Westminster, Fountain Valley, and Los Alamitos, portions of Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, and Santa Ana, and the communities of Rossmoor and Midway City.
