TheLiberalOC Ranks #14

Well I just fell out of my chair.  It seems that the OC Blogosphere is racking up the ratings in the state.

BNN Ranking 6/10/07Blognetnews.com has released its first list of “California’s Most Influential Political Blogs.” I pleasantly pleased to report that The Liberal OC is listed as #14. OCBlog ranked #1, Total Buzz #3, FlashReport #4, Orange Juice #6, Orange Punch #7, followed by Liberal OC at #14.

Congratulations to all the Orange County based blogs and their cotributors who made the top 20 this week.

This is pretty cool, since I didn’t even know we were being ranked.  Also cool since we’ve only been around for a little more than a year. Thank you to all the readers, commentors and contributors who have made our first year such a success.

Mike Lawson has pulled together a really good team of contributiors to or site.  I look forward to future rankings.

From the BlogNetNews press release:

Welcome to the next step from BlogNetNews.com/California . Over the weekend, we launched a new feature that ranks which California state politics and news blogs are having the most influence on the direction of conversation in the state blogosphere.

Our rankings come from data provided in your RSS feeds, data from the activity of readers on BlogNetNews.com and data about Internet traffic from third parties. Each Sunday morning at 12:01 AM, BNN will release a new top 20 list of the blogs most powerfully shaping opinion in the California blogosphere. Every week, you can find the list here.

On a side note, once our feed is up on the BlogNetNews site, you can rank the stories from our feed.  This can help influence the ratings. 😉

  1. Congrats to all of you fantastic LibOC bloggers! You’ve done more in your one year online than what many blogs have done in their whole lifetime! You’re all amazing, and I’ll be looking forward to seeing more of your great work.

Btw, I’ll also be looking forward to seeing you climb that list next year! ; )

  2. While these are interesting, they probably aren’t worth that much in terms of real political influence. The creators of these rankings acknowledge that they will vary wildly from week to week. Also, they are based on internet-y stats, and not on political influence.

They’re cute and fun, but shouldn’t be really used as any real measure of influence.

  3. I agree wholeheartedly that we don’t need awards to know that we’re doing something influential here. The OC Blog, Orange Juice, Calitics, and TheLiberalOC are all wonderful blogs that have flipped local political journalism in Orange County on its head….with or without awards.

  4. Hey, Mike — before you go to far including Orange Juice in the warm-fuzzies, take a look at how your buddy Pedroza slapped you down on OJ as a cynical partisan hack for asking Janet Nguyen to disclose her donors:

“Funny how Wisckol never stops to contemplate why Liberal OC and Calitics would jump on Wisckol’s bandwagon – oh, that’s right they are Democrats. Of course they were more than happy to heap scorn on Nguyen, who is a Republican.“
